Let's talk about breastfeeding. We all know that breastfeeding can build a strong emotional bond between you and your baby.
But are you aware that breastfeeding has also long term benefits for you and your baby?
Breastfeeding reduce your baby's risk of:
· diarrhoea and vomiting,
· sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS)
· childhood leukaemia
· cardiovascular disease in adulthood
Breastfeeding lowers your risk of:
· breast cancer
· ovarian cancer
· osteoporosis (weak bones)
· cardiovascular disease
Breastfeeding at the beginning can be difficult: you are very tired after the delivery, not every babies latch on properly from the beginning, it can be painful and frustrating. Remember you are not alone! You need to be more stubborn than your baby.
